WHO AM I

Who Am I?
A Devotional for Young Hearts (Ages 7-14)
Opening Thought
Have you ever looked in the mirror and wondered, "Who am I, really?" Maybe you've compared yourself to friends at school, siblings, or people you see online. Sometimes it's hard to know exactly who you are when the world seems to have so many opinions about who you should be!
God's Word Says...
"For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."
Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
"See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!"
1 John 3:1 (NLT)
"You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it."
Psalm 139:13-14 (NLT)
What Does This Mean for Me?
You Are God's Masterpiece
Think about your favorite piece of art—maybe a painting, a sculpture, or even a LEGO creation you built. When someone creates something special, they put thought, care, and love into every detail. That's exactly how God made YOU! You're not an accident or a mistake. You're His masterpiece, created with incredible care and purpose.
You Are Deeply Loved
Sometimes kids your age feel like they have to earn love—by getting good grades, being the best at sports, or having the coolest clothes. But God's love isn't something you have to earn. He calls you His child simply because He loves you! That love doesn't change based on your performance or how you feel about yourself.
You Are Wonderfully Made
Your personality, your talents, even the things that make you different from everyone else—these aren't flaws to fix. They're gifts God gave you on purpose! Maybe you're really good at making people laugh, or you're great at noticing when someone feels left out. Maybe you love to read, build things, or help animals. These aren't random—they're part of how God designed you!
Real Talk for Real Kids
When you feel insecure: Remember that God doesn't make mistakes. If He made you with freckles, glasses, a quiet personality, or a loud laugh—those things are part of His good design for you.
When others try to define you: People might try to put you in a box: "You're the smart one," "You're the athletic one," "You're the shy one." But you're so much more than one label! You're God's beloved child with many different qualities and gifts.
When you mess up: Making mistakes doesn't change who you are. You're still God's masterpiece, even when you fail a test, say something mean, or make a bad choice. God's love for you never changes.
Questions to Think About
1. What are three things that make you unique and special?
2. How does knowing you're God's masterpiece change the way you see yourself?
3. What's one way you can show love to yourself today, just like God loves you?
4. How can you help a friend remember they're God's masterpiece too?
Prayer
Dear God, thank You for making me exactly who I am. Help me to see myself the way You see me—as Your beloved child and masterpiece. When I feel insecure or compare myself to others, remind me that You created me with love and purpose. Help me to be confident in who You made me to be and to treat others as Your masterpieces too. In Jesus' name, Amen.
This Week's Challenge
Every morning when you brush your teeth, look in the mirror and say: "I am God's masterpiece, and He loves me exactly as I am." Try it for a whole week and see how it changes the way you start your day!
Remember This
You don't have to be perfect to be loved. You don't have to be like everyone else to be valuable. You just have to be YOU—the amazing, unique, wonderful person God created you to be. That's more than enough. That's everything.
